Atlanta Stove Works Bridge on Krog Street

Atlanta Stove Works opened at the corner of Irwin & Krog Streets in 1889 along the Southern Railway tracks. The revolutionary business produced stoves used for heating and cooking for almost 100 years before ceasing production in 1987. This is what remains of a bridge from Stove Works that will be incorporated into the new Krog Street Market slated to open in Summer 2014. This intersection is packed with history, and I have watched this structure change over the 6 years I have lived in the neighborhood. 

This post is exciting to me in many ways - this is my neighborhood. This is beautiful to me. This decay and dilapidation will be spruced up and morphed into part of the Krog Street Market where once again people can tread across this bridge. To me it will not only connect two buildings, but also link the present to the past.
